Venice Film Festival concludes with awards and closing film

The 83rd Venice International Film Festival concludes with an awards ceremony held in the Sala Grande. The closing film, screened out of competition, is ‘Dio Ride’, directed by Giovanni Veronesi.

Set in the 17th century, ‘Dio Ride’ stars Pierfrancesco Favino as Fra Leopoldo da Casamacchia, a Capuchin friar in Tuscany who spreads a message of a joyful and accessible God. His popularity leads to accusations of heresy from the high clergy, sparking a confrontation with the Inquisition.

The festival's final evening includes re-screenings of major award winners, including the Golden Lion, the Best Director award, and prizes from the Venice Spotlight and Orizzonti sections.
