Venture Global expands LNG operations in Cameron, Louisiana

Venture Global, a Virginia-based liquefied natural gas developer, is expanding its operations in Cameron, Louisiana. The company’s first phase, Calcasieu Pass 1 (CP1), is currently operational, cooling methane for transport via the 24-mile TransCameron Pipeline.

Construction is now underway for the second phase, CP2, which is expected to be more than 2.5 times the size of the initial plant. The expansion has brought thousands of temporary workers to the area, leading to high occupancy in local RV parks. The Department of Energy has granted Venture Global a permit to export over 640 billion cubic feet of LNG per year from these facilities to both free trade agreement and non-FTA nations.
