Veracruz flood hits Tolome, 80+ homes damaged

Heavy rains caused the Tolome River to overflow in the municipality of Paso de Ovejas, Veracruz. Authorities reported flooding of about 60 homes in the locality of Tolome and another 24 homes in Puente Nacional, with no injuries or damage to critical infrastructure.

The state government activated the Strategic Reserve to provide food, clothing, hygiene items and cleaning supplies to affected families. Emergency operations, including drainage and sanitation work, were carried out by the Secretariat of Public Security, the Secretariat of National Defense, the National Guard and civil protection officials under the Tajíny DN‑III‑E plans. A special weather alert remains in force, and officials warned residents to avoid crossing swollen streams and to report emergencies to 911.

The response also involved the distribution of aid, clearing of streets, drains and canals to restore water flow and reduce further risk.
