Veracruz announces September patriotic festivities and cultural program
The Government of Veracruz has announced a comprehensive schedule of activities to celebrate the patriotic month of September. In Xalapa, the festivities will center around Plaza Lerdo, featuring a diverse lineup of musical performances including Mariachi Cuicalli, the group Tlen-Huicani, and a gala concert by soprano Olivia Gorra accompanied by the State Government Symphony Band.
The celebrations will culminate on the night of September 15 with the traditional ‘Grito de Independencia’ ceremony led by Governor Rocío Nahle from the balcony of the central palace, followed by musical performances by Nelson Kanzela. Other key dates include the commemoration of the ‘Niños Héroes’ on September 13 and a Civic-Military Parade on the morning of September 16.
Additionally, the Leyes de Reforma Cultural Center is marking its second anniversary with a series of events including traditional ‘son’ music, folk dance performances by the Universidad Cristóbal Colón, and historical lectures regarding Veracruz's monuments. The program also includes reading circles and a ‘Night of Museums’ to promote local heritage and identity.
