Veracruz implements security strategy to combat criminal groups

The government of Veracruz is implementing a security strategy focused on intelligence and investigation to dismantle criminal groups. Governor Rocío Nahle García stated that the administration maintains no agreements with criminal organizations, prioritizing cooperation with society instead.

Key results of these operations include the recovery of 11 out of every 13 reported stolen vehicles. Security efforts involve reinforced surveillance in shopping center parking lots and strategic highway patrols on the Veracruz–La Antigua and Córdoba–Tierra Blanca corridors in coordination with the National Guard. The state is also investing in technology and equipment for the Secretariat of Public Security, with 50 new officers graduating monthly.

In a separate judicial development, the State Prosecutor's Office reported 173 legal proceedings initiated in one week for high-impact crimes, including homicide, extortion, and kidnapping. Additionally, federal and state forces conducted raids in municipalities such as Coatzacoalcos, Tempoal, Tierra Blanca, and Tamiahua, resulting in 17 arrests and the seizure of weapons, drugs, and tactical equipment.
