Veracruz authorities investigate murders of two university students

The Veracruz State Attorney General's Office (FGE) is investigating the murders of two students from the Universidad Veracruzana, Melanie Michelle Méndez Morales and Luis Fernando Hernández Ibáñez. Their bodies were discovered inside a vehicle on the Coatepec–Huatusco highway near the Los Pescados bridge in Coatepec. The victims had previously been reported missing after last being seen in Xalapa.

Governor Rocío Nahle García confirmed that forensic experts are working to determine the exact causes of death and integrate technical reports. During a security meeting, the Governor noted that investigation lines are active and that the FGE will be responsible for officially announcing procedural progress.

In a separate incident, authorities are also investigating the deaths of three individuals reported in the municipality of San Rafael during the early hours of the morning. The Governor stated that a line of investigation is already established for this case as well.
