Veracruz Prosecutor's Office Secures Multiple Arrests and Judicial Resolutions in Crime Crackdown
The Veracruz State Attorney General's Office (FGE) reported a series of law‑enforcement actions that led to several suspects being placed in preventive detention. In Poza Rica and the municipality of Veracruz, four individuals – Simón Alberto, María del Carmen, Refugio and Carlos Alberto – were linked to process for kidnapping and aggravated extortion after coordinated operations by the UECS. In Alvarado, Francisco and three others (Roberto Isboset, José Alberto and Diego Francisco) were similarly linked to process for violent offenses, crimes against public‑security institutions, health‑related offenses and bribery, and were ordered to remain in custody.
Separately, the FGE announced that within a 24‑hour period it obtained 24 judicial resolutions, including eight convictions, sixteen new process linkages, fifteen formal imputations, ten judicial orders and four arrests, reflecting a broader effort against kidnapping, extortion, pederasty and femicide. Additionally, police arrested Levi, known as “Comandante Levi,” charging him with qualified homicide for a 2025 killing in La Triste, Yanga. These actions underline the office’s intensified campaign against organized crime in the state of Veracruz.
