Veracruz launches first specialized tourism school as Mexico sets 2026‑27 school calendar

Governor Rocío Nahle García announced that the new Veracruz School of Tourism Services will begin operations in September 2026. The school, housed in two renovated buildings in Boca del Río, will initially admit 300 students and offer a six‑semester program focused on hotel, food‑service, catering and other tourism‑related skills. It will be administered by the Veracruz State Education Secretariat.

Separately, the Mexican Ministry of Education (SEP) outlined the tentative holiday schedule for the 2026‑27 academic year, listing days off for national observances such as Independence Day, Day of the Dead, Revolution Day, Constitution Day, Benito Juárez’s birthday and the Teacher’s Day weekend. Families are using the calendar to plan vacations and breaks for millions of students across the country.
