Veracruz launches new tourism school to professionalize local workforce

The Veracruz government has launched the Escuela Veracruzana de Servicios Turísticos to strengthen the state's tourism sector through professionalization and specialized training. Governor Rocío Nahle García announced that the institution will offer free training to current tourism workers, such as waiters and chambermaids, to improve service quality and meet visitor demands.

The school has commenced activities with an initial cohort of 132 students. This educational initiative is part of a broader strategic plan that includes infrastructure modernization, such as the renovation of the World Trade Center and the rescue of the Historic Center, as well as the development of a Gastronomic Center to promote local cuisine.

Additional tourism promotion efforts include specialized routes like the Coffee Tour and the Haciendas Tour. The project has received support from the state tourism secretariat and the business sector, with former federal tourism secretary Miguel Torruco Marqués participating in the inaugural events.
