Veracruz opens new Tourism School for 100 students in September

Governor Rocío Nahle García announced that the Veracruz Tourism School will begin classes in September, enrolling an initial cohort of 100 students. The school, created by rehabilitating two previously unused buildings in Boca del Río, is 90 % complete and will eventually accommodate up to 400 learners.

The free program offers training in English, Mexican and Veracruzan gastronomy, food‑and‑beverage service, hotel operations, tour‑package design and digital promotion, with practical workshops and labs. Nahle invited local tourism workers, especially waitstaff, to obtain basic‑English certification through the school.

The initiative is part of a federal SEP‑backed effort to professionalise Veracruz’s tourism sector and improve service quality for national and foreign visitors.
