Veracruz infrastructure: New port access bridge and housing projects inaugurated

President Claudia Sheinbaum and Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García inaugurated the new access bridge to the Port of Veracruz, a 2-kilometer viaduct representing an investment of approximately 860 million pesos. The project, completed three months ahead of schedule, is intended to separate long-distance transit from urban traffic, potentially saving up to 50 minutes for the 34,000 vehicles that use the intersection daily.

During the visit, Sheinbaum also highlighted progress in the Vivienda para el Bienestar program. In Veracruz, the government has committed to building over 107,000 new homes, with 59 percent of that goal already under contract or in progress. Nationally, the housing program has reached 43 percent completion toward its goal of 1.8 million homes.

Additionally, FOVISSSTE reported the liquidation of housing credits for 535 workers and pensioners in Veracruz as part of a social justice initiative to address unpayable debts. Sheinbaum noted that the increase in the minimum wage has helped capitalize social security institutions like Infonavit, which currently holds 1.14 trillion pesos.
