Veracruz pedestrian bridge construction nears completion

Construction of a new pedestrian bridge at the access point to the Port of Veracruz is entering its final stages. The project, located on the MEX-140 federal highway between Santa Rita and TAMSA, is part of the larger Veracruz Port Access Distributor works.

The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transport (SICT) and Governor Rocío Nahle reported that the upper part of the distributor is expected to open to traffic by the end of August 2026. The bridge is intended to improve pedestrian mobility and road safety by providing a secure crossing in a high-traffic area, reducing the need for people to cross the federal highway directly.
