Veracruz residents demand CFE action over nightly power outages
Residents of the Torrentes Aeropuerto housing development in Veracruz are demanding intervention from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) due to frequent nightly power outages. Neighbors report that nearly half of the residential area loses electricity for several hours during the night, which they attribute to overloaded transformers.
In an attempt to restore service, some residents have resorted to placing ice on transformers to prevent overheating, a practice locals warn is dangerous and may damage internal equipment lines. Residents are calling for the CFE to inspect the capacity and condition of the electrical installations to accommodate the growing population in the area.
