Veracruz State Government Coordinates Rain Response Efforts

The Government of Veracruz, via the State Civil Protection System (SEPC), continues to coordinate the response to recent heavy rains across the state. No injuries have been reported so far.

In Xalapa, state and municipal teams were reinforced with personnel from the National Defense Secretariat, enabling expanded clean‑up, road clearing and landslide mitigation. Twelve landslide incidents were recorded and fallen trees were removed from several streets.

In the towns of Coahuitlán, Tempoal and Espinal, rapid‑response streams showed significant rises but are now trending downward. The Las Mercedes bridge in Espinal suffered damage, prompting the deployment of public‑works brigades and the designation of an alternate route through Coxquihui. Local municipalities are also clearing roads and channels.

Civil Protection maintains an active special rain alert, advises residents to avoid crossing swollen streams or flooded roads, and urges the public to call 911 for emergencies.
