Omealca attack kills two federal agents in Veracruz

Two federal agents, Emmanuel Santamaría Alvarado and Luis Manuel Castillo Melo, were killed during an operation in Omealca, Veracruz. The incident occurred in Paso Amapa while the agents were investigating a kidnapping case. During the confrontation with a criminal cell, two kidnapped individuals were successfully rescued, and a third security agent was injured.

Veracruz Governor Rocío Nahle García reported that the federal agents entered Veracruz territory while pursuing a criminal group from Oaxaca, leading to the clash. Following the attack, security forces from the Navy, Army, and state police were deployed to reinforce strategic points in Córdoba and the surrounding region.

Omar García Harfuch, head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), led a private memorial service for the fallen agents. He promised that the perpetrators would be brought to justice, stating that the deaths would not remain unpunished. Authorities have located two vehicles linked to the crime and are continuing investigations to identify those responsible.
