Heavy rains cause flooding and damage in Puebla and Veracruz

Heavy rainfall and storms have caused significant disruptions across the Mexican states of Puebla and Veracruz. In Puebla, intense precipitation on Monday evening led to flooding in several areas, including the capital and the Cuautlancingo municipality. Reported damages include flooded streets, vehicles stranded in rising waters, and a fallen tree on Boulevard Hermanos Serdán that struck three vehicles. In Cuautlancingo, drainage failures caused water and hail to enter some homes. Despite the localized flooding, local authorities stated that major water regulators remained well below capacity, and no injuries were reported.

In Veracruz, meteorological reports indicate a period of variable weather. While some coastal areas experienced heat and low rain probability, mountainous regions and southern basins such as Papaloapan and Coatzacoalcos faced higher risks of intense rainfall and electrical storms. Forecasts suggest that precipitation levels are expected to increase toward the middle of the week, particularly in the southern and central parts of the state. Civil Protection has advised residents in high-risk areas to take precautions against wind gusts, hail, and potential electrical activity.
