Vergato post office resumes service after renovation

The post office in Vergato reopened to the public on 23 June, operating from 11 a.m. that day and returning to its regular schedule (08:20‑13:35 weekdays, 08:20‑12:35 Saturdays) on 24 June. The refurbishment, part of Poste Italiane’s Polis programme, added new furniture, low‑impact lighting, a low‑vision lane and lowered counters, and allows citizens to obtain civil‑registry certificates, INPS services and passport renewals.

In nearby Perugia, the Ponte Valleceppi office has remained closed since 4 April after severe damage to a storefront window rendered the building unusable. The Democratic Party councilor Lorenzo Ermenegildi Zurlo has asked the municipal administration to accelerate talks with Poste Italiane. About 4 000 residents must travel to the Ponte San Giovanni office for postal services.

The Casciago office’s reopening was pushed to 23 July because of delays in material deliveries for the renovation works, the mayor said.

The Lucrezia office’s reopening was further postponed to 22 July. The mayor urged Poste Italiane to shorten the delay and consider a temporary service point, while nearby offices in Calcinelli, Cartoceto and Cuccurano remain available.
