Verónica Alcocer denies drug trafficking and financial misconduct allegations
Verónica Alcocer, the former first lady of Colombia, has broken her silence to deny various allegations regarding drug trafficking, money laundering, and illegal financial activities. In an interview with RCN, Alcocer rejected claims that she transported drugs or irregular funds, specifically denying reports that she returned from Venezuela with $2.5 million in cash.
Alcocer addressed her professional relationship with Eva Ferrer, a former advisor who has leveled accusations against her. While Alcocer acknowledged they were close during a women's empowerment project, she clarified they were not intimate friends and that their relationship deteriorated due to unmet personal expectations. She further denied using her influence to facilitate contracts or positions for Ferrer, Manel Grau, or other associates.
Additionally, Alcocer denied allegations concerning the financing of a political campaign for her cousin, Mario Fernández Alcocer. She stated that she has never held funds in U.S. dollars within Colombia and emphasized that she is defending her own reputation against falsehoods intended to damage her and her family.
