Vernon, BC Crews Contain Three Grass Fires in Commonage Area
On August 4, 2026, three separate grass fires broke out in the Commonage area of Vernon, British Columbia. Vernon Fire Rescue Services, assisted by BX‑Swan Lake Fire Rescue, Coldstream Fire Department and BC Wildfire Services, responded quickly. All three blazes were declared held or under control, with no injuries reported. Helicopters were deployed and Commonage Road and nearby routes were temporarily closed while crews monitored hotspots.
The fires, each spanning roughly 200‑300 feet, are suspected to be human‑caused, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
