Vernon driver faces second vehicle impound for excessive speeding

A 59-year-old man from Vernon had his Dodge Challenger impounded by the BC Highway Patrol after being caught traveling 151 km/h in a 100 km/h zone near Golden, British Columbia.

The driver claimed his vehicle was ‘too fast’ for him to control, a remark addressed by Sgt. Michael McLaughlin, who noted that the vehicle has two pedals. This marks the driver’s second excessive speeding impound since summer 2025, following a previous incident in Falkland.

In addition to an excessive speeding ticket and a fine for tinted windows, the driver faces the costs of towing and a seven-day impound. Due to the repeat offense, he will also face increased high-risk driver insurance premiums for at least three years, with total costs estimated to exceed $2,500.
