Vernon RCMP investigate suspicious grass fire in Becker Park
The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is investigating a suspicious grass fire that occurred in Becker Park on Sunday, August 9. Firefighters responded to the blaze shortly before 9:00 a.m. and were able to quickly contain and extinguish it. Authorities believe the fire was human-caused and are appealing to the public for any information that could assist the investigation.
In a separate incident, Vernon Fire Rescue crews worked to contain hot spots following a structure fire in the 100 block of Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills. While the home is located near a forest, the city of Vernon stated there are currently no interface wildfire concerns related to that incident.
