Veteran Eduardo Canitrot returns to Falkland Islands 44 years after war

Eduardo Canitrot, an Argentine war veteran and president of the Association of Veterans Puerto Argentino de Pinamar, has returned to the Falkland Islands 44 years after fighting there as a conscript in 1982.

Accompanied by his daughter, Canitrot visited several locations from the conflict, including Puerto Argentino, Monte Harriet, Goose Green, and Monte Kent. During his trip, he displayed the Argentine flag in various locations, an act that gained significant attention on social media.

A central moment of the visit occurred at the Darwin Argentine Cemetery, where Canitrot visited the grave of his former comrade, Pedro Larrosa, to fulfill a decades-old promise to return. He also paid tribute to Captain Pedro Edgardo Giachino, the first Argentine killed during the conflict.

Canitrot, who served in the 10th Logistics Battalion of the X Infantry Brigade, used the visit to honor fallen soldiers and reflect on the consequences of the war for those who survived and those who did not.
