Viantan vitamin infusion recalled in Poland due to glass contamination

The Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate (GIF) has issued an immediate recall for a specific batch of the medicinal product Viantan, manufactured by B. Braun Melsungen AG. The recall affects batch number 82947TB24 with an expiration date of 05.2027 (GTIN: 05909991379858).

The decision follows a report from a hospital pharmacy in Poznań, where staff discovered a large glass fragment inside a vial during preparation. Viantan is a multi-component vitamin supplement used for intravenous parenteral nutrition in adults, adolescents, and children aged 11 and older, particularly when oral or enteral nutrition is insufficient due to surgery, malabsorption, or severe illness.
