Pharmaceutical product recalls in Poland
Overview
The Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate (GIF) in Poland has issued recalls for two different medicinal products due to contamination concerns.
In September 2026, a recall was issued for batch 82947TB24 of the vitamin infusion Viantan, manufactured by B. Braun Melsungen AG. The action followed a report from a hospital pharmacy in Poznań where a large glass fragment was discovered inside a vial. The product is used for intravenous parenteral nutrition in various age groups.
In October 2026, the GIF ordered a nationwide recall of two batches of the injectable oncology medication Vamfoli 50 mg/5 ml (Leucovorin Calcium), specifically batches BLPI2421YD and BLPI2511YC. This decision was prompted by reports of visible foreign particles and floating matter in intact vials, initially identified by the Military Institute of Medicine – National Research Institute in Warsaw and reported via a wholesaler. The inspectorate cited a significant quality defect posing potential health risks.
