Viaplay Group completes sale of Dutch operations to Videoland
Viaplay Group has finalized the sale of its Dutch streaming and broadcasting operations to Videoland, a subsidiary of DPG Media. The transaction is valued at €142 million (approximately US$162 million) on a cash and debt-free basis.
Following the completion of the deal, which received necessary regulatory and lender approvals, Viaplay intends to use the proceeds to reduce its net debt levels and strengthen its financial position. The company expects total cash proceeds of approximately €100 million after accounting for transaction costs, restructuring expenses, and legacy multi-year agreement payments.
CEO Jørgen Madsen Lindemann stated that the sale allows the group to refocus its resources on its core Nordic markets, where the company sees the greatest potential for scale and synergy. The company also plans to consider refinancing its outstanding borrowing facilities to lower borrowing costs.
