Trendhaus carrot toy recalled due to asbestos contamination

The Italian Ministry of Health and the European Safety Gate system have issued a serious safety alert regarding a Trendhaus brand toy containing asbestos. The product, described as an orange, elastic, carrot-shaped sensory squeeze toy approximately 17 centimeters long, is filled with sand contaminated with tremolite, a hazardous form of asbestos.

The risk arises if the toy breaks, potentially dispersing asbestos fibers into the air, which can lead to serious health issues including cancer if inhaled. The product may have been sold through physical stores or online marketplaces, making it difficult to track all distributors.

Authorities advise parents and caregivers to immediately stop using the toy and keep it away from children. If the toy is intact, it should not be opened, cut, or emptied. If the toy is damaged and sand has escaped, officials warn against using brooms or vacuum cleaners to clean it up; instead, the area should be secured, and local health authorities (ASL) should be contacted for proper disposal instructions.
