Vibo Valentia health agency recalls Trendhaus toy due to asbestos

The Provincial Health Agency (Asp) of Vibo Valentia has issued a safety alert regarding the recall of a specific toy due to asbestos contamination. The product, identified as ‘Fun Sand Scented Blueberry’ by the brand Trendhaus, consists of a printed plastic bag filled with sand.

Following reports via the European Safety Gate rapid alert system, authorities determined that the sand used to fill the toy contains asbestos, a substance known to cause cancer. The agency warns that the toy could break, dispersing the contaminated material.

Consumers are advised not to use the product or allow children access to it. If the toy is damaged and the contents have spilled, officials recommend moistening the material and sealing it in a double bag without using a broom or vacuum cleaner. The Asp of Vibo Valentia has provided instructions for returning the item to their Public Hygiene and Health unit.
