Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan launches Rajya Sabha orientation for new members
On 25 July 2026, Vice President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan inaugurated a two‑day orientation‑cum‑training programme called “Prarambh” at the Parliament House in New Delhi. The event gathered 67 newly elected and nominated members of the Rajya Sabha along with Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Secretary‑General P.C. Mody and senior secretariat officials.
The programme was designed to brief fresh legislators on parliamentary procedures, rules, traditions and modern technology, emphasizing the importance of Question Hour, Zero Hour and the proper use of Rule 267. Radhakrishnan urged members to uphold the Constitution, promote national unity and work toward the “Viksit Bharat @ 2047” vision, stressing their role in holding the government accountable and serving the public.
Speakers highlighted that diverse regional voices in the upper house must translate into constructive debate and decisive action for the nation’s development.
