India Rajya Sabha orientation programme

On 25 July 2026, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the two‑day "Prarambh" orientation and training programme for 67 newly elected and nominated members of the Rajya Sabha at Parliament House in New Delhi. The sessions briefed legislators on parliamentary procedures, the importance of Question Hour, Zero Hour, Rule 267, and the role of the upper house in holding the government accountable, invoking the vision of “Viksit Bharat @ 2047”.

Two days later, on 27 July 2026, Deputy Chairman Harivansh delivered the valedictory address. He highlighted the Rajya Sabha’s increasing digitisation and paperless operations, stressed the need for cybersecurity safeguards on official devices, and urged members to master parliamentary rules, budget‑scrutiny duties, and best practices from other democracies. He framed the workshop as the beginning of an ongoing process of parliamentary development.
