Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan visits Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan has commenced a two-day visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Upon arrival at INS Utkrosh in Sri Vijaya Puram, he was received by Lieutenant Governor Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi (Retd.) and accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour.

During the visit, the Vice-President paid tribute to freedom fighters at the Cellular Jail National Memorial. He laid a wreath at the Martyr’s Column and visited the cell of Veer Savarkar, whom he described as a “unique and fearless revolutionary.” Radhakrishnan remarked that Savarkar’s patriotism inspired generations and noted his contributions to fighting social discrimination and untouchability.

The itinerary includes participating in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and attending a state function titled “Tiranga Concert on Vande Mataram.” He is also scheduled to visit Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island to reflect on the history of India's freedom struggle.
