Vice President Gibran Urges Stronger Religious Tolerance and Moderation in Indonesia
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka met with the leadership of the National Moderate Union (DPP PMN) at the Vice President’s Palace in Jakarta. He stressed the need to reinforce values of religious tolerance and moderation across the archipelago, citing the current domestic and global context that calls for broader moderate thinking.
Gibran linked the discussion to President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita program, highlighting goals of social harmony, national‑based human‑resource development and inclusive citizenship. The DPP PMN named him a “Modern Moderate Figure” and pledged to continue promoting these values.
The meeting also addressed Papua, with Gibran’s supporters praising his attention to infrastructure, health and education projects there and his willingness to visit security‑sensitive areas. Gibran urged civil‑society groups to keep fostering dialogue and unity in Indonesia’s diverse society.
