Vicente Martínez Mus leads Valencia glass recycling agreement
The Generalitat Valenciana signed a four‑year cooperation pact with the producer‑responsibility schemes Ecovidrio and Ecolec Envases to manage single‑use glass packaging waste in the region. The agreement outlines technical and economic conditions aimed at reaching a 75 % recycling rate for glass containers.
In 2025 the region collected 94 854 tonnes of glass, averaging 17.5 kg per inhabitant – roughly 618 containers per minute. Vice President Vicente Martínez Mus said the goal is to "continue increasing selective collection of glass containers through data‑based planning, adapted to each municipality and supported by innovative tools". The pact seeks to boost the circular‑economy objectives of the Comunitat Valenciana.
The collaboration will coordinate collection, processing and reporting across municipalities, with the intention of improving recycling outcomes and environmental sustainability in the region.
