Vicky Foods invests 19 million euros in Algerian plant expansion

Spanish food group Vicky Foods is investing 19 million euros to expand its production plant in Sig, near Oran, Algeria. The expansion involves a new 10,000 square meter, two-level building designed to double the facility's industrial capacity.

The project includes two new production lines. The first line, dedicated to sponge cake sheets, began operations in July, adding 7,000 tons of capacity and enabling the production of mini-snacks and other small formats. The second line, focused on bread products such as hamburger buns and sliced bread, is scheduled to start in October with an additional 8,000 tons of capacity.

In addition to production lines, the investment covers a new warehouse, an analysis laboratory, and a product development laboratory. The expansion is expected to create approximately 100 new jobs in the short to medium term. The Sig plant, opened in 2014, represents Vicky Foods' first manufacturing site outside of Spain.
