Vicky Foods expansion in Algeria
Overview
Spanish food group Vicky Foods is investing 19 million euros to expand its production facility in Sig, Algeria. The project involves constructing a new 10,000 square meter, two-level building to double the plant’s industrial capacity.
The expansion includes a new warehouse and two specialized production lines. A sponge cake line, which began operations in July, adds 7,000 tons of annual capacity for products like mini-snacks. A second line for bread products, such as sliced bread and hamburger buns, is scheduled to begin operations in October, adding 8,000 tons of capacity.
To support these operations, the investment also covers the establishment of an analysis laboratory and a product development laboratory. The expansion is expected to create approximately 100 new jobs in the short to medium term. The Sig plant, which opened in 2014, serves as Vicky Foods’ first manufacturing site outside of Spain.
