Vicopisano launches mosquito control following Dengue case
Authorities in Vicopisano have ordered precautionary mosquito control measures in the Campomaggio area following a reported case of Dengue fever. The infection was contracted by an individual while traveling in a tropical country and subsequently stayed in a residence in Campomaggio.
Acting on instructions from the Azienda USL Toscana Nord Ovest, the municipality issued ordinance number 191 to target mosquito larvae and adults. The goal is to prevent local mosquitoes from biting the infected individual and potentially transmitting the virus to others. Local officials emphasized that the risk of transmission is remote and there are currently no local infections.
The intervention covers specific sections of via Butese and parts of the Campomaggio locality. Operations will include door-to-door inspections to identify and eliminate breeding sites in both public and private outdoor spaces, such as gardens and terraces, as weather conditions permit.
