Victoria infrastructure projects scheduled for early completion

Two major roadwork projects in Victoria, funded by a $175 million joint investment from the Federal and State governments, are expected to finish six months ahead of schedule. The upgrades target the fast-growing regional town of Wallan, including the Watson Street Interchange Upgrade on the Hume Freeway and the Northern Highway Intersection project.

Additionally, a contract has been awarded to remove the Anderson Street and Hudsons Road level crossings in Melbourne’s west. An alliance consisting of Acciona, WSP, Metro Trains Melbourne, and VIDA Rail will manage the removals, with construction slated to begin in 2027 and completion expected by 2029. The project aims to improve safety and reduce congestion in Yarraville and Spotswood, particularly at the Anderson Street crossing, which has a history of fatalities and serious injuries.
