Victoria Jonesku, daughter of former Romanian politician, found dead

Victoria Jonesku, the 22-year-old daughter of former Romanian politician Kazimir Jonesku, was found dead at a farm in the Mușătești municipality, Argeș County. She had been staying with friends since August 21 and was last seen on a Tuesday evening.

The body was discovered on a Wednesday morning by the host of the property, who immediately notified authorities. Preliminary investigation findings suggest the young woman, who reportedly struggled with depression, died by suicide via hanging. Police recovered a farewell letter at the scene in which she asked for her family's forgiveness.

Officers and forensic experts from the Argeș County Police Directorate attended the scene. Initial inspections found no signs of violence that would suggest foul play. The body will undergo an autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death as the investigation continues. Kazimir Jonesku is a known political figure in Romania, having served as a deputy and senator during the 1990s and 2000s.
