Victoria Maria Ionescu, daughter of former Romanian senator, found dead
Victoria Maria Ionescu, the 22-year-old daughter of former Romanian senator Cazimir Ionescu, was found dead in Argeș County. The young woman, who was an aspiring actress, was discovered on the stairs of a residence in Mushateshti where she had been staying with friends.
Preliminary investigations suggest the cause of death was suicide. Authorities recovered a farewell note in which she asked her family for forgiveness. Investigators noted no signs of violence at the scene. Victoria had been battling severe depression and was undergoing medical treatment. Her family had hoped a change of environment at a local farm would assist her recovery.
Victoria was buried on August 28 at the Bellu Cemetery in Bucharest. In a tribute to her theatrical ambitions, her headstone included the nickname ‘Natasha,’ referring to her dream role as Natasha Rostova in ‘War and Peace.’ Her mother shared a moving tribute online, expressing the profound loss of a daughter who dreamed of bringing characters to life.
