Victoria Police hunt axe-wielding suspect after targeted attack

Police in Victoria are conducting an urgent manhunt for a man in his 50s who allegedly attacked three people with an axe at a home in Tyers, north of Traralgon. The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Gippsland region.

The victims, described as an elderly woman, an elderly man, and another man, sustained critical injuries. All three were airlifted to The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, where they remain in critical condition. Police believe the attack was targeted and noted that the suspect was known to the victims.

Authorities warn that the suspect may still be armed with an axe and a handsaw. He was last seen wearing a black and mustard-coloured jacket and carrying a black backpack. The public is advised not to approach the man and to contact emergency services immediately if he is spotted.
