Vicuña Mining launches USD 70 million logistics tender and new access route

Vicuña Mining is launching a major logistics tender to acquire 200 new high-end buses for personnel transport to its mining sites. The project represents an estimated investment of USD 70 million, with each vehicle costing approximately USD 350,000. Due to the scale of the request, industry experts suggest that participating companies will likely need to form consortia or temporary business unions to meet the technical and financial requirements.

The expansion of the fleet is expected to create significant employment, requiring between 400 and 500 professional drivers.

In a strategic move to secure its logistics, the company has also awarded the first works for the ‘North Corridor,’ a new access route located entirely within the province of San Juan. This decision bypasses the province of La Rioja, aiming to avoid previous territorial and judicial conflicts regarding road usage. The new infrastructure will facilitate the transport of equipment, supplies, and personnel, and is expected to generate around 300 direct and indirect jobs, primarily benefiting the San Juan region.
