Vienna Market Office Director Resigns Amid Allegations

The head of Vienna's Market Office stepped down after serious accusations were made against him, a move described by ÖVP councilor Elisabeth Olischar as unavoidable. Olischar called for a complete internal and administrative review, stressing that the resignation does not end the need for full transparency and that the city administration must answer when officials first learned of the allegations.

FPÖ leader Dominik Nepp echoed the call for a thorough investigation, saying the resignation marks only the beginning of the necessary inquiry. He demanded clarification on how long city officials, including councilor Ulrike Sima and her successor Emmerling, were aware of the misconduct, and warned that any cover‑up must be exposed.

Both parties urged the SPÖ‑Neos city government to provide a detailed account of the timeline and actions taken, emphasizing the public’s right to know and the importance of restoring trust in municipal governance.
