Vienna nightlife venues undergo concept shifts and relocations

Vienna's nightlife scene is undergoing significant changes with new concepts emerging at established venues. The Pratersauna has transitioned into an ‘Urban Pool Club’ as of July 23, 2026. Operated by Nikolaus Gutmann under the name ‘edison Pratersauna’, the venue has shifted its focus from traditional late-night clubbing to a daytime and afternoon pool bar concept. The renovated outdoor area features a pool, a small sand beach, and sun loungers, offering street food and drinks with live DJ sets ending at 10 PM.

Additionally, Albert and Jakob Trummer are set to open ‘Sanatorium’ at Dr.-Karl-Lueger-Platz in early September. This concept, which the Trummers previously launched in New York's East Village, combines a cocktail bar, gastronomy, art, and nightlife with a theme inspired by historical clinics and pharmacies. The project also includes the relocation of Martin Ho's X Club, a private members' club, which will move to the basement of the new location after 15 years at its previous site.
