Viennale 2026 film festival to feature Wim Wenders documentary

The 64th Viennale film festival in Vienna, scheduled to run from October 22 to November 3, 2026, will feature a new 3D documentary by German director Wim Wenders titled ‘From Inside Out – The Architecture of Peter Zumthor.’

The film focuses on the work of Swiss architect Peter Zumthor, emphasizing the physical experience of his buildings, such as the Kunsthaus Bregenz, through three-dimensional imagery rather than traditional biographical interviews. Wenders uses the camera to observe light, materials, and interior perspectives to highlight Zumthor’s architectural impact.

The festival lineup includes a diverse range of international works, opening with Johann Lurfs’ ‘Forever…Forever’ shown on 70-mm film and closing with ‘The Loneliest Man in Town’ by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel. Other notable screenings include works by Mohammad Rasoulof, Kamal Aljafari, and Albert Serra.
