From 21 to 31 May, the federal “Jugend musiziert” music competition took place in Munich and Regensburg, drawing nearly 1,900 young performers across 950 jury rounds. Six participants from the Viersen district earned top honors.
Drummer Moritz Bovie secured a second‑place prize with 22 points, while pianist Anna Lin achieved third place with 21 points. An accordion quartet from the Kreis earned a second‑place ensemble award with 23 points, and a flute trio received a commendation for “very good” performance. District officials praised the achievements, noting the combination of talent, intensive preparation and strong support networks behind the success.
Ingo Schabrich, district director for youth, culture and education, said the competition “demands extraordinary talent, hard work and mental strength,” and expressed pride in the winners as ambassadors of the region.
