Vietnam financial sector: High executive pay and bank capital shifts

Financial reports for the first half of 2026 reveal significant trends across Vietnam's banking and securities sectors. In the securities industry, top executives are receiving substantial compensation. Trinh Hoai Giang, CEO of HSC Securities, earned over 4.8 billion VND in the first six months, averaging approximately 800 million VND per month, amid a 35% increase in the company's pre-tax profit.

In the banking sector, National Citizen Bank (NCB) has proposed a plan to double its charter capital to nearly 62,280 billion VND by 2027 through private share offerings. If successful, this would mark its fifth consecutive capital increase in six years. Meanwhile, Orient Commercial Bank (OCB) reported a profit of over 2,400 billion VND for the first half of the year, a growth of more than 30%, driven largely by non-interest income and strong credit growth in the SME and FDI sectors.
