Vietjet partners with Thales to expand into aviation maintenance and AI

Vietjet is expanding its operations beyond traditional passenger transport into aviation maintenance, engineering, and digital technology. On September 13 in Paris, the airline signed cooperation agreements with the French technology group Thales. The partnership focuses on aircraft technical maintenance, digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity.

To support this expansion, Vietjet has commenced construction of an aircraft technical maintenance center at Long Thành Airport with a total investment of nearly $100 million. The facility will include hangars capable of servicing up to 10 aircraft simultaneously and is intended to provide technical services to other airlines. Additionally, Vietjet signed a memorandum of understanding with CFM International to develop maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities for CFM LEAP engines in Vietnam.

In conjunction with its fleet and network growth, Vietjet has also launched a recruitment drive for flight attendants for 2026. The recruitment events, scheduled for September 18 in Ho Chi Minh City and October 3 in Hanoi, aim to bolster the airline's workforce to meet increasing domestic and international flight demands.
