Vietjet aviation technology and maintenance expansion

Overview

Vietjet is expanding its operations into aviation maintenance, engineering, and digital technology through several strategic partnerships. In mid-September 2026, the airline signed cooperation agreements with the French technology group Thales in Paris. These agreements focus on aircraft technical maintenance, digital technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

To support these initiatives, Vietjet has begun constructing an aircraft technical maintenance center at Long Thành Airport with an investment of nearly $100 million. The facility is designed to service up to 10 aircraft simultaneously and provide services to other airlines.

Furthering its technical capabilities, Vietjet entered into a repair-by-the-hour contract with Thales for its Airbus fleet and signed a memorandum of understanding regarding digital aviation and predictive analytics. Additionally, the airline signed a letter of intent with CFM International to investigate developing in-country maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities for CFM LEAP engines in Vietnam.
