Vietnam 2026 university admissions focus on law major cutoffs and school transcripts

For the 2026 university intake in Vietnam, the Law faculty remains highly competitive. Expected minimum scores range from 26‑29 points at top universities, 22‑26 at mid‑tier schools and 15‑22 at private institutions, depending on the admission track.

A nationwide talkshow on 23 June highlighted that school transcripts (học bạ) will continue to be a crucial admission criterion. Universities must now assess results from all three years of high school (six semesters) and convert them onto a common 30‑point scale alongside other methods. Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking, for example, integrates transcript scores with additional criteria, requiring notarized documents for both admission and enrolment. Experts note that the revised system aims to provide a more comprehensive view of student ability and ensure fairness across multiple selection pathways.
