Vietnam accelerates digital transformation to boost economy

Vietnam is accelerating its digital government and digital economy initiatives to enhance national competitiveness and improve the business and investment environment. The country is focusing on digital transformation and the simplification of administrative procedures through data-driven management to create a more modern, citizen- and business-centric model.

While the Ministry of Justice notes significant progress in reducing administrative burdens since the implementation of Decree 63/2010/ND-CP, challenges remain. Current processes often focus on formal compliance rather than risk management and efficiency. Issues include fragmented review mechanisms and a lack of a complete legal framework for data reuse, which can lead to redundant information requests from citizens and businesses.

At the local level, digital transformation is evolving from a public management tool into a driver for economic development. In areas such as Ho Chi Minh City, digital solutions are being used to manage increasing workloads, facilitate online document submission, and increase transparency, allowing businesses to track the progress of their applications remotely.
