Vietnam Accelerates Power Grid Modernization to Support Double‑Digit Economic Growth

Power workers in Vietnam’s central provinces of Ha Tỉnh and Nghe An are conducting round‑the‑clock inspections of transmission lines, using thermal cameras and drones to detect faults without interrupting supply. The effort comes amid temperatures above 40 °C and record weekend electricity demand from tourist sites such as Thien Cam beach.

The government’s Politburo Resolution No. 70‑NQ/TW designates energy security as a cornerstone for achieving double‑digit GDP growth. To meet this goal, the state utility has added substations, strengthened backup systems and placed crews on 24‑hour standby. In Nghe An, 32 investment projects totalling about 5 000 billion VND are upgrading over 230 km of medium‑voltage lines, while the national grid operator has launched 26 new 110 kV projects and 1 335 medium‑low‑voltage projects worth roughly 19.27 trillion VND. These upgrades aim to eliminate infrastructure bottlenecks and ensure reliable power for industry, agriculture and tourism, thereby keeping investment flowing.
