Vietnam adopts comprehensive climate‑resilience action programme

The Vietnamese government issued Resolution No. 208/NQ‑CP, adopting an action programme to implement the 14th Party Central Committee’s conclusion on environmental protection and proactive climate‑change response. The plan sets out concrete tasks for the 2026‑2030 period with a vision to 2045, assigning clear responsibilities, timelines, expected outcomes and resources for each measure.

Key priorities include improving air quality in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other major urban centres, tackling water pollution in river basins, canals and lakes, and expanding wastewater collection and treatment infrastructure. The programme also promotes a green, circular and low‑carbon economy through household waste sorting, expanded recycling, waste‑to‑energy projects and extended producer responsibility. Additional actions cover public awareness, institutional and legal reforms, resource mobilisation, biodiversity conservation, climate‑adaptation and disaster‑risk reduction, as well as strengthening greenhouse‑gas emissions management, science, technology, digital transformation and international cooperation. Ca Mau authorities will use thermal‑imaging drones for forest‑fire prevention and monitoring.
